Julija is an employed barrister, who specialises in all aspects of contractual shipping work. Her practice encompasses disputes concerning laytime and demurrage, bunker supply claims, hire, performance issues, cargo claims, sale of goods, and letters of indemnity, and non-contentious work such as drafting agreements for ship sale (with a focus on disputes under charterparties and bills of lading).

She has acted on behalf of owners and charterers, and has worked across numerous arbitrations and High Court proceedings (she was a judicial assistant in the Commercial Court for three months, working for Bryan J, Jacobs J and several other judges). She also spent three months on secondment with a leading International P&I Club.

Prior to joining the firm in September 2019, Julija undertook pupillage at Twenty Essex chambers, where she assisted on a broad range of general commercial and shipping matters. This included agency commissions, contracts of guarantee and various jurisdictional issues.

Julija completed her undergraduate law degree at the University of Cambridge and a master’s in law at the University of Oxford.
