Emma specialises in all aspects of contractual shipping work, with particular focus on disputes under charterparties and bills of lading. Her practice encompasses a broad range of matters including laytime and demurrage, performance disputes, hire disputes, safe port issues, cargo claims, and general average. She acts on behalf of both shipowners and charterers, and has worked on matters proceeding in arbitration, the High Court, and the Court of Appeal (Classic v. Limbungan [2019] EWCA Civ 1102). She also has experience in relation to freezing injunctions and anti-suit injunctions.
Emma has spent six months on secondment with a leading International Group P&I Club, handling FD&D and P&I matters, which has given her valuable insight into the claims handling process and the requirements of Clubs and their Members.
Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Emma undertook pupillage at Quadrant Chambers.
