Nichol Adams
Tim specialises in the law of charterparties, bills of lading and ship sale and purchase.
He graduated from Oxford University with a First in History in 1995, before studying law in London. He trained for the Bar at 7 King’s Bench Walk before joining Holms Hardingham in 1998. Tim has been with Winter Scott since the firm was founded in 2004.
Amongst the prominent reported cases with which Tim has been involved are: Glencore v. Metro [2001] 1 Lloyd’s Rep. 284 (conflict of laws); The Kami/la [2006] 2 Lloyd’s Rep. 238 (Inter-Club Agreement); Classic v. Lion [2010] 1 Lloyd’s Rep. 59 (guarantees and force majeure); The Pearl C [2012] 2 Lloyd’s Rep. 533 (off-hire and under-performance); The Western Moscow [2012] 2 Lloyd’s Rep. 163 (liens on subfreights); The Great Creation [2015] 1 Lloyd’s Rep. 315 (redelivery). Much of Tim’s practice is in arbitration, covering a wide range of aspects of dry shipping and shipbuilding work.
Tim is a solicitor advocate, and appears in the High Court for clients in urgent applications for injunctions and other orders.
