Tom Feakins is a Master Mariner and worked at sea up to the rank of Chief Officer SDPO with experience on; Harbour Tugs, Anchor Handling Tugs, Buoy Tenders, Survey Vessels, Offshore Supply Vessels, Private Yachts and Cruise Ships. Whilst at sea Tom worked in worldwide locations, including operating in piracy areas, conducting ice navigation and DP operations.

Tom worked for 2 years as a Pilot in Scotland, on a wide variety of vessels including Bulk Carriers, Tankers and Mobile Offshore Drilling Units and created a management system and procedures to comply to the Port Marine Safety Code. Since 2019 Tom has worked in the oil and gas and wind industry, as towmaster and marine consultant on a range of projects and tows. Tom contributes to industry best practice publications on ECDIS and is a revising author of the Oilfield Seamanship Series. In addition to extensive operational experience of leading teams of marine professionals, Tom has a keen interest in professional development, regularly conducting coaching sessions for those sitting Master Mariner and Chief Officer exams.

Tom holds a BA in History from Lancaster University, a BA in Professional Practice, an MSc in Shipping Operations, and a certificate in Psychology.
